Drone Payload and Battery Capacity: The greater the payload, the greater the battery capacity. Early agricultural drone models were mainly 10L, gradually developing to 16L, 20L, 30L, and 40L. Within a certain range, increasing the payload helps to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness. Therefore, in recent years, the carrying weight of agricultural drones has increased.
Different regions and different applications have different requirements for the model payload. In terms of application scope, orchard plant protection and sowing operations require larger payloads to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. In terms of regional scope, scattered plots prefer small and medium-sized models, while regular large plots are more suitable for large-payload models.
Early 10L agricultural plant protection drone models mostly used agricultural drone batteries with the following specifications: voltage at 22.2V, capacity between 8000 and 12000mAh, and a discharge current of around 10C, which was basically sufficient. Later, due to advancements in drone technology, the payload continuously increased, developing in increments of 16L, 20L, 30L, and 40L, and the drone batteries also increased in voltage, capacity, and discharge current accordingly.
The drone battery parameters used for 16L and 20L drone models are mostly: capacity 12000mAh to 14000mAh, voltage 22.2V. Of course, some models can use a higher voltage of 44.4V, and a discharge rate of 10C to 15C. The drone battery parameters used for 30L and 40L drone models are mostly: capacity 16000mAh to 22000mAh, voltage 44.4V. Of course, some models can use a higher voltage of 51.8V, and a discharge rate of 15C to 25C. In 2022-2023, the mainstream model payload has increased to 40L-50L, with a sowing capacity of 50KG. It is estimated that in the next few years, the model payload will not continue to increase significantly because the increasing payload has already created the following disadvantages:
- Difficult for one or two people to carry, making transportation more troublesome;
- Excessive wind fields during operation, easily causing lodging;
- High charging power, some even exceeding 7KW, single-phase electricity is difficult to meet, requiring higher demands on the power grid.
Therefore, considering these advantages and disadvantages, it is expected that in the next 3-5 years, 20-50 kg models will be the mainstay, with each region choosing according to its own needs.
